Dues are collected in advance starting July 1. If dues are not paid by January 1, the member is delinquent; if not paid by February 1, the member is suspended; and if not paid by July 1, their membership is forfeited.
Legion membership is $45.00 per year (Active Duty is $25.00). A copy of your DD-214 or equivalent is required. We will redact (black out) unneeded data.
Auxiliary membership is $35.00 per year or $3.00 if under 18. Membership is open to males of any age and their husband or (grand)parent must be a Legion member or, if deceased, could have been a member.
Sons of The American Legion membership is $15.00. Membership is open to males of any age and their (grand)parent must be a Legion member or, if deceased, could have been a member.
Periods of eligibility are set by Congress:
As of July 31, 2019, Any service from December 7, 1941 to present are eligible.
Previously, only service during the following periods were eligible:
Gulf War/War on Terrorism August 2, 1990 to date of cessation
Panama December 20, 1989-January 31, 1990
Lebanon and Grenada August 24, 1982 – July 31, 1984
Vietnam War February 28, 1961 – May 7, 1975
Korean War June 25, 1950 – January 31, 1955
WW II December 7, 1941 – December 31, 1946
WW I April 6, 1917 – November 11,1918

Already a member and want to transfer? Transferring does not cost other than bringing your dues up to date, if necessary. And, unless you want to maintain your continuous years of service, there is no need to pay for missed years, just the current year.
